Voting was held on Sunday for 275 seats in the federal parliament and 550 seats in seven provincial assemblies in Nepal. The counting of votes started on Monday and it is still going on.

Nepal election In the results and trends that have come so far, no party or alliance seems to be getting a clear majority. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba led by the Nepali Congress (NC) ruling coalition Has gained an edge in the parliamentary elections. Out of the 65 seats whose results have been declared so far, the ruling coalition has won 40. Of the total 275 members of the Federal Parliament, 165 will be elected through direct voting, while the remaining 110 will be elected through a proportional election system.
Nepali Congress has just won 25 seats and is leading in 31 places. While the CPN-Maoist Center has seven seats, the CPN-Unified Socialist has six and the Rashtriya Jan Morcha and the Samajwadi Party have one seat each. All of them are part of the ruling coalition. Maoist Center and CPN-Unified Socialist are leading in 10 and five seats respectively. Nepali Congress leader and PM Deuba himself has also won the election.
New National Swatantra Party has 5 wins in its account
The main opposition CPN-UML (Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist-Leninist) led by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has so far won 15 seats and is leading in 29. Whereas, CPN-UML’s allies Rashtriya Prajatantra Party and Janata Samajwadi Party have won two and one seat respectively. Rashtriya Prajatantra Party is leading on three seats.
The newly formed Rashtriya Swatantra Party has won five seats and is ahead in four. Nagrik Unmukti Party, Janmat Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Jan Morcha and Independent candidates have won one seat each.
The CPN-UML received the most votes under the proportional electoral system. The party got 3,65,505 votes, while Nepali Congress got 3,37,328 and Maoist Center got 1,61,069 votes.
