There has been a huge turnout this time on the Paonta Sahib seat. Generally it is taken as an anti-authoritarian trend. This is an alarm bell for Sukhram Chowdhary. Here 76.88 percent voters have exercised their franchise.
himachal election
After winning the 2017 elections with a margin of more than ten thousand, this time in the Jairam government Energy Minister Sukhram Chowdhary Paonta Sahib is seen getting trapped in the trap of the rebels. Four rebels of the Bharatiya Janata Party are in the fray from here. A total of nine candidates are standing on the Paonta Sahib seat this time, out of which Karnesh Jung of the Congress and Manish Thakur of the Aam Aadmi Party are also giving a tough challenge to him.
Sukhram Chowdhary won his first election in 2003. After this he managed to get his seat in 2007 also. But, in 2012 he lost to Karnesh Jung of Congress. In 2017, he worked hard in his constituency and due to the anti-incumbency wave towards Congress, he reached the assembly by winning more than ten thousand votes. This time he is on the way to score a victory.
This is how Energy Minister was made
Despite winning the 2017 elections with a huge margin, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur initially did not give him any preference. But, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Suresh Kashyap got a good lead from his constituency and Suresh Kashyap became a Member of Parliament. Meanwhile, just before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Sukhram and his grandson Ashray Sharma from Mandi joined the Congress and Energy Minister Anil Sharma had to resign from the ministerial post in the Jairam government. This seat became vacant in the cabinet. Jairam Thakur had to reshuffle the cabinet and Sukhram Chowdhary succeeded in becoming Energy Minister.
More voting this time
There has been a huge turnout this time in Paonta Sahib constituency. Generally it is taken as an anti-authoritarian trend. This is an alarm bell for Sukhram Chowdhary. Here 76.88 percent voters have exercised their franchise. The issue of Hati in Paonta Sahib was also limited to 12-14 panchayats. In such a situation, there are doubts about how effective this issue will be. They would have benefited only in a situation when the votes of the Congress were divided between Congress candidate Karnesh Jung and Aam Aadmi Party’s Manish Thakur. Manish Thakur has been the President of the State Youth Congress and he is basically a Congressman.
