Jammu Kashmir Assembly Election In view of the preparations, the final voter list was published on Friday. Names of 7.72 lakh voters have been added in this. Officials gave this information. Jammu and Kashmir’s Joint Chief Electoral Officer Anil Salgotra said that there are 83,59,771 voters in the final voter list, including 42,91,687 men, 40,67,900 women and 184 citizens of ‘third gender’.
With the publication of voter list, the way has been paved for holding assembly elections in the union territory. In the year 2019, the Article of the Constitution was repealed and the special status was withdrawn from Jammu and Kashmir, after which this will be the first assembly elections.
Added names of 7,72,872 voters
He said, “There has been an increase of 7,72,872 voters in the final voter list, which means the net increase of registered voters on the draft list is 10.19 per cent.” Salgotra said that this is the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir that more than 11 lakh applications were received for inclusion of names in the voter list during the special revision drive.
During this period, a record 11,40,768 claims were received through Form VI for inclusion of names in the electoral rolls in the union territory. Out of these, 11,28,672 claims were accepted and only 12,096 claims were rejected. This included 3,01,961 claims for inclusion in the 18-19 age group. A total of 4,12,157 requests for removal were received, out of which 3,58,222 were accepted and 53,935 were rejected.
613 new polling stations have been set up
He said that 613 new polling stations have been set up in the union territory. He said that the sex ratio of the final voter list has increased from 921 to 948. Salgotra said that there has been a significant increase of 27 points in the sex ratio and it is 948, which is much above the census sex ratio of Jammu and Kashmir.
Claims and objections were accepted from 15 September to 25 October i.e. for a period of 40 days. After this, a period of 15 days was kept till November 10 for disposal of all claims and objections. J&K Congress chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said, “We suspect that the names of some ineligible voters from outside J&K have been added to the list as per the announcement.” (input from language)
