Rahul Gandhi will rest the night at the city's Chimanbagh Maidan
According to officials, Rahul and others involved in the yatra will rest for the night at Chimanbagh Maidan in the city. According to the initial plan of the Congress, Rahul and the people involved in this yatra were to be accommodated at the Khalsa Stadium in Indore, but the plan could not materialize due to the controversy that surfaced during the religious program of Guru Nanak Jayanti on 8 November.
After honoring Kamal Nath in this program organized at the stadium, famous kirtankar Manpreet Singh Kanpuri made a clear reference to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and expressed his displeasure against the organizers from the stage.
BJP workers threaten Kamal Nath
Following the controversy, local leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had announced that if state Congress president Kamal Nath stepped into the stadium with Rahul's Bharat Jodo Yatra, BJP workers would protest against him by showing black flags. Kamal Nath's alleged role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots that broke out after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi is often alleged by BJP leaders. However, Kamal Nath and other top Congress leaders have been rejecting these allegations outright.
