Will Pranab Roy continue to be the chairman of NDTV?
A few days ago, in an interview to the Financial Times, Gautam Adani said that he has offered NDTV founder Prannoy Roy to continue as chairman after the acquisition of NDTV is completed. This means that even after becoming the owner of Gautam Adani, Prannoy Roy can become the chairman of NDTV if he accepts the offer of Gautam Adani. Gautam Adani said in his interview that freedom means that if the government does something wrong, it is right to say wrong about it and if the government does good work then it is necessary to have the guts to say right.
What do the Roy couple have to say?
On the other hand, the Roy couple, promoters of NDTP, have 32 per cent stake. After the open offer, the Roy couple say that the Adani Group did not hold any talks with them about buying NDTV. He also emphasized that after Gautam Adani becomes the owner, the editorial policy of NDTV will be affected. In such a situation, this acquisition is being opposed by the promoters.
In this way Gautam Adani will become the owner of NDTV
Adani Group had announced the acquisition of Vishwapradhan Commercial Private Limited ie VPCL in the month of August. VCPL had given a loan of more than Rs 400 crore to the founders of NDTV about 10 years ago. In which there was a clause, under which VPCL could acquire 29.18 per cent stake in NDTV at any time. Now Adani Group has come up with an open offer to increase its stake in the company.
AMG Media Networks and Adani Enterprises Ltd along with VCPL will buy 26 per cent stake in NDTV. Under the open offer, 1.67 crore shares are being offered at a price of Rs 294 per share. On receipt of full subscription, the size of this open offer will be Rs 492.81 crore. After which Adani Group’s stake in NDTV will be around 55 percent.
